Georgetown School at the end of school year 2009

Welcome to our website!  Enjoy reading about Georgetown School.

Who we are: We are a group of Christians who strongly believe that opportunities for children should be the same.  Our concern is to offer an Integral and Qualified education to each child who is already enrolled at Georgetown and to those who can potentially become our students.  We believe that school and home need to work together as a supportive axis in order to assure our students this Integral Education.  This type of education focuses on spiritual, physical, moral, and intelectual growth which can only be reached introducing a Biblical view in every subject.

Our Organization: Georgetown School is a non-profit institution which was founded as a response to the need of learning a second language in an underdeveloped country in order to assure success in universitites and the working field.  Georgetown School is unique in offering this opportunity to children from Jesús de Otoro and other surrounding villages.  The school offers lower prices to consider those who have fewer chances of pursuing a bilingual education.

Objectives: 1 To reach children and their families for Jesus.  2 To apply a Bilingual Curriculum through which children learn English and at the same time meet the requirements of the National Honduran Curriculum.  3 To offer spiritual values based on Biblical Principle.  4 To contribute to Honduran society by building up citizens; in the future, these children will be able to assume their roles as citizens with a strong sense of responsibility, efficiency, and a love for their country.  5 To offer an Integral Education which assures the development of skills, attitudes and an awareness of the environmental, living, and health conditions of our community.  To assure this development we place students as part of the solution through their participation in planting trees, HIV and cleaning campaigns, medical brigades, collecting items for hospitals and poor areas, and other small projects.

Our Confession of Faith: 1. We believe that God our Lord is one in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  2. We were created by God and according to His image, He gives us identity, dignity, individual thinking and value; as we are part of a fallen world, we have sin and we fall short of His glory.  3. God gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus and only through the acceptance of His sacrifice and resurrection can we become His children filled with His Holy Spirit.  4. God is the creator and sustainer of everything.  5. All that is truth is God´s truth.

Our Philosophy:  We are convinced that all knowledge and wisdom is given by God and therefore the Bible is our base and authority in the application of the school curriculum and rules.  We believe that only those citizens who are exposed to the reality of poverty that surrounds us, can develop an awareness and concern for these existing problems.  We assure that our students develop a pride and appreciation for our customs, language, population, and geography, a love to our country.  We believe that learning a second language is an important tool to help children pursue a better life as well as to seek the good of their community and country.  This education is the key to many opportunities which ultimately can break cycles of poverty.

Our Mission:  To offer Qualified Education which will assure the development of skills, values, and knowledges needed for this constantly changing world; and to integrate school, parents, and church, basing our ministry on God´s Word.

Our Vision:  Work constantly to build a model of education which produces improving changes in everyone involved in the school community and to offer the unique opportunity to do so for those with less fortune.
